MySync acquired by Mark/Space Incorporated
Dear Readers,
as you may have already heard, MySync has been acquired by Mark/Space Incorporated.
I thought I’d just take a bit of time here to explain the background to this, and what this means for the future of MySync.
Firstly, I’d like to apologise for the relatively slow support response over the last few months. Discussions with Mark/Space were ongoing for some time, and, as you can imagine, were more than a little distracting
My original intention when I started MySync was to follow the Mac Indie dream. As MySync began to grow in popularity, I was approached by another potential purchaser (see “Best Email So Far“), and Mark/Space.
I already knew Mark/Space by reputation for The Missing Sync (which has many users in common with MySync) as well as having corresponded with some of their engineers on technical discussion lists.
Although I hadn’t really considered selling the entire program up until that point, the logic of partnering with Mark/Space to take the product forward instead of going it alone was pretty inescapable, and so here we are.
I will continue to work on the technical development of the product. With Mark/Space’s help, we’re making great progress on removing some of the current issues, and we hope to continue publishing beta releases, as we move towards a 1.0 version.
Mark/Space will take on product support, marketing and distribution.
From your point of view, you should expect to see many improvements, and some exciting new features over the coming weeks and months, and much improved response times to support requests.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone whose supported the development of MySync so far, whether by bug reports, reviews, encouragement, feedback, advice, and technical assistance.
FAQ:
Q: What new features will be added?
A: I can’t tell you right now, but many of the requested features are under consideration, so if you have made feature requests, you may well be pleasantly surprised.
Q: What will happen to the Free licenses we were promised?
A: I have a bundle of licenses as part of the agreement with Mark/Space. If you have been promised a free licence, I will send it out to you once permanent licences are generated.
Q: My beta licence has expired or is about to expire, what should I do?
A: Just come and get a new beta license from www.mildmanneredindustries.com for now.
Q: What will happen to MildMannered Industries?
A: MildMannered Industries will continue as a separate entity. In fact, we have just released an Advance Preview of our next product, MMICrashReporter, although this is aimed at Developers rather than end-users. We also have some more products in the pipeline – watch this space for developments.
Q: Will you be handing over my personal details to Mark/Space?
A: No email addresses or other personal details of any kind will be transferred, in accordance with our privacy policy. If you have registered MySync with us, we will not pass your details on to anyone else.
We will probably be sending out an announcement email to all registered users, and because the list is quite large, and we have no email infrastructure of our own, we may ask Mark/Space to send this email on our behalf. However, this will be a communication from MildMannered Industries, and that list will be destroyed after use.
